Here at LightArt, there are few things we love more than “[a]n invitation to innovation.”

According to Leatrice Eiseman, thats exactly what Pantone’s 2014 Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid encourages, with “expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.” More importantly, we love what Eiseman says about Radiant Orchid inspiring “confidence” and “great joy, love and health.”

Radiant Purple

Beyond just a charming shade of purple, the themes of creativity and confidence are certainly worth keeping at the forefront of our minds as we journey into 2014. Knowing that Pantone considers a wide array of factors when choosing the Color of the Year, we are excited to see the focus on these themes, and are hopeful for what it may mean for 2014.

Looking at trends over the past year, we suspect 2014 will be a great year for innovation in the architecture and design world, and for healthy, confidence-boosting growth in American manufacturing in general. Over the last year, we’ve already seen significant advancements in LED and OLED technology, which we’re hard at work incorporating into our own lighting creations. Furthermore, with the continuing proliferation of CAD/CAM and 3D printing technologies it seems that more and more companies are manufacturing incredible products on-shore (I mean, have you seen Nervous System’s offerings?!).

What do you foresee in 2014? Are these trends you’ve noticed as well? What do you think 2014 holds for the A+D industry? And most importantly, will you be wearing head-to-toe Radiant Orchid for the rest of the year? Tell us on Twitter @LightArtSeattle or in the comments below.
